Turn the tide

Hi every one!

A new incredible game! You like animals? You want to protect all of them? So play Turn the Tide and save all sheep!

Characteristics:

• Players: 3-5
• Duration: 30-40 minutes
• Theme: Sheep, sea, island

Player, you must save all the sheep! They are in a small island and the sea go up!! So save the sheep!!!

But how? At the beginning all player receive some cards, in this card two information is written, a number corresponding to the value of the card and life belt, half life belt or no life belt. When all player have their card they count the number of life belt in their cards, it was them number of life.

Each turn two card were return, in middle space. In this card a number is written, it’s the value of the sea.

Each players select one card on her hand and show it in the same times. The highest value written in player’s card won the card with the lowest value to the sea. And player who have the lowest value won the other card. After that the player who have the card with the highest value to the sea lost one life belt. All player keep the sea card near his life belt.

When players played all their cards the first round was ended. All players count their life belt, it was their score in the first round. After that all player give their cards included their life belt to their left player, and the second round begin!

The other round were like the first, and they is the same number of round that players.

At the end the player with the highest number of life belt is the winner!!

At my opinion this game is very psychological, if you know the other player it’s more easier than the opposite, and one trick, speak a lot to bluff the other players is a good strategy. Because you disturb all of them and they can’t reflect on their strategy.

Boomtown

This week I bring you in Far-west! With a French game called “La fièvre de l’Or” or Boomtown.

Characteristics:

• Players: 3-5
• Duration: 40-60 minutes
• Theme: Gold, far-west, mining concessions

 

This games is really easy to understand, your play a gold seeker like this :

And you must became the richest player,

To do this, you’ll have to buy the best mining concessions, hoping to find gold veins. You can also try to become the Mayor of Whiskey River or San Narciso, in order to get a small cut on concessions sales, or build a saloon where lucky prospectors will spend their nuggets in moonshine whisky. If business is really bad, you can still rely on bank or stagecoach hold-ups to reestablish you. A well placed stick of dynamite can also solve some minor problems.

Boomtown is game with auctions, dice, and some fun and nasty action cards to play on your fellow gold diggers.

Ticket to Ride

This week I invite you to make a trip with me in Ticket to Ride!

Characteristics:

• Players: 2-5
• Duration: 45-60 minutes
• Theme: Trip, train, geography

Come with me to discover a beautiful game! It’s about trip and railway line. Many board was created to this game, you could be in US countries, in Europe, or in Germany that depend which extension you have bought.

The object of the game is to score the highest number of total points. But how make points?

• Claiming a Route between two cities on the map.
• Successfully completing a Continuous Path of routes between two cities listed on your Destination Ticket(s).
• Completing the Longest Continuous Path of routes.

But be careful points are lost if you do not successfully complete the route given on your Destination Ticket(s).

How build a railway line? Players must collect and play matching train cards to claims railway lines connecting cities. The longer the routes, the more points they earn.

In the beginning of the game each player have Destination Tickets, in this tickets you have a mission, connect two distant cities. When you succeed this mission you win some additional points.

In Ticket to Ride, there are three possible actions a player can take during the game turn:

• Drawing Train Car Cards
• Claiming a Route between two cities on the board
• Drawing additional Destination Tickets that will earn extra points if completed by the end of the game.

In this game you must make order choice because the other players can claim all railway if nobody claims it before so make attention to the other player, they can fail you strategy if they claim your targeted railway. You must analyse all possibility and don’t focus only with one way, to connecting two distant cities you can make claims many way to complete your Destination Tickets.

Robot Rally

Hi every one!

New week so new games! Today I will present you Robot Rally a board game with robots!

 

Characteristics:

• Players: 2-8
• Duration: 30-60 minutes
• Theme: Race, battle, programming

 

In this game you have some flag with number, each player must go to all the flag by ascending order. But this board is not here to help players, some moving pavement and push button are here to change the direction of robots.

The game take place with turn, at the beginning each players receive programming cards, with them you can order you robot to move up or down, turn left or right or u-turn. In each turn you have five moving phases so you choose which card is used in which phases. But care firstly the other robots move and can move your robot in another case, and secondly at the end of each moving phases robots fire and make damage to the other robot in the line!! And more you are damage less you have cards to programming your robots in the next turn! If you are too much damage you can fly to pieces!

So this games need to be attentive of other robots, in each phases you can die, but the other player aren’t your biggest enemy! Care about you moving direction and board action like moving pavement!

I played a many time this games and each times the game was different, some times the other player push you to fall in gap and some times it’s the opposite, I like this games for that!

Times Up

Hi everyone!

You are cultured? You like to improve your knowledge? So this week the game is for you!

This week the gmae is Times Up. It’s a cards game.

 

Caracteristics:

• Players: 4-12 or more
• Duration: 45 minutes
• Theme: Knowledge, memory, cooperative

In this game in each card you have two color (blue or yellow) in each color you have one word (about celebrity, movie) the theme of this word depend of the version of the game.

In the game two team are confronted. The game take place in three phases:

1. In the first phase one player have 30 seconds to guess the word in the card. He/she can say what he/she wants, but the player can’t change the card.
2. In the second phase players can only say one word, but can change the card.
3. In the last phase player must mime and can’t say word.

The game have many positive point, the game have many words, you can have a great ambiance.

The negative points was it was difficult to make two balance team.

Perudo

Hi everyone!

You like mathematics, your like numbers? So this week the game is for you!

I will present Perudo! It’s a dice game, this game is also played in Latin American contries.

Caracteristics:

• Players: 2-6 and more if you have more dice
• Duration: 20 minutes
• Theme: Bidding, Mathematics

One particularity of this games is their dice, they don’t have number one it’s a face with an animal (Perudo).  When checking the dice, perudo are counted as the dice that were announced if there’s at least one die of the number announced.

Each players starts having five dice and a cup. All players shake their dice in their cup and looks his or her dice. One player start to says how many dice are showing (at the minimum) of a certain number. For example “six five”, meaning they are at least six dice showing five. The next player must to raise the bidding, an he or she have many possibility:

• Bluff, it’s mean they  are less than the number of die showing the number called.
• Raise the number of die showing.
• Raise the number called, if you annouce dice showing perudo you must divide the quantity by tow, rounding up. Example after “six five” you can say “three perudo”.

You can add your rules if you want.

This game was very funny you can play with many poeple and it was very fast to learn how play, you can discovert your friend who bluff often.

The negative points, it’s game of chance and you can’t make strategy.

Puerto Rico

Hello everyone!

This week we discover a new game! Puerto Rico  published by Rio Grande Game. You dream to become a rich settler in south america? So this games is for you!

  Caracteristics:

•    Players: 2-5
•    Duration: 90 minutes
•    Theme: trade

Each player has a estate, he can build some building or plantation. Your have choice between five crops-corn, indigo, sugar, tabacco and coffe. Each ressource can be sold to market or sending to europa via the trader to win some victory points. But to work each building need workers.

The games organise by turn and each turn one player became the gouvernor. Each player must choose a character in a list of seven characters, they all have a specifique action and privilege.

The goal is to have the most victory points. You can have this victoy points by sending your ressources or construct some building.

The positive points of this games it’s you must elaborated one economical stratégie and you must adapte you with other player because some building can be construct by only two players so if your strategie is to build great market and two player have already build one you must change your strategie.

A good balance between making gold and making victory points is the key to win the game!
